And now it is present day Shadow, the name of this region. Six dragon clans remain, as well as three clans of man and the Subdragons. Choose a loyalty, create a character, and fight for your life...

Other Species Not dragon, human, or subdragon, these species are hunted or hunters, or sometimes neither- if you want to be one, PM Midnight Dragon to ask for permission. Also, if you get permission, post your character here. Moderator: Midnight Dragon
Other Information Including such information as a glossary of Shadian terms and the Monetary systems of Shadow, this is a board that I strongly suggest you read carefully. Moderator: Midnight Dragon
Fang Mountains These make up the north border of Shadow, they are a harsh and cold environment that does not well support life. Riddled, it is rumored, with Naga and lindorm caves, the Fang Mountains have but one attraction. Make that two. The Lake of Solace, and the Veil. The Lake of Solace is a beautiful place, sparkling clear and cold as ice- it drains from a glacier that is said to be pure frozen magic. It is rumored to have the magical properties of healing any ill creature, though few in living history have fought their way there. A lovely waterfall cascades over the edge... the thousand foot drop, to be specific. Not. Fun. As for the Veil... even from a distance, one can see the deep blue shimmer that hovers over the one entrance and exit to the great valley, and they say that if you go there on quiet nights, you hear the screams of the fallen, or those killed trying to cross through it's oddly malevolent magic... Sky Cliffs Scenic cliffs and shallow caves overlook the entire valley of Shadow; deeper in, mountain peaks covered in snow lounged grandly o'er (love that word) the icy valleys. It is said from these peaks that the Lake of Solace is visible to all... Females of SkyClan come here to lay their eggs and raise their young. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Bloodshed Mountains Three giant mountains that are taller than any others scrape the skys just south of the Veil. The west mountain is Breathstolen, the center one is Daggerpeak, and the east one, the tallest one, is simply called Death. These mountains are the site of an immense historical battle when Shadow was first colonized; many humans, dragons, and mages lost their lives that day. Breathstolen, Daggerpeak, and Death are the living monument to the terrible months, and it is said that the blood of the fallen still stains their stones after all of these years. South Border Mountains
Cradle of Flames A maze, a virtual Labrynth of caverns and smaller passages stretches endlessly through the walls of the volcano called the Greath Firebreather. Many gems sparkle in it's walls, and if you dare take one, you will risk the wrath of Mountain Clan, who view everything here as their own- which it is, but... You know. Deep within the warren lurks the nesting site of Mountain Clan, and the heat there would kill any non-dragon who tried to access it instantly. In other places, pockets of burning heat and sentries make exploration dangerous. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Valley of Bones Few things are more sacred than the legendary Lake of Solace, but this is it. All conflicts, all events, no matter what, NOTHING must prevent a dead drayke from being buried in the Valley of Bones. For Mountain Clan to prevent even a Spell Clan dragon from coming here after death would be worse than blasphemy. It'd be... not being a dragon- it'd be a hideous atrocity of the worst kind. They are never put underground, their flesh is burnt off and their bones arranged among an amount of treasure. Stealing from the dead is even worse than being not buried there. Half-draykes, semi-dragons and non drakyes are not allowed here under pain of death. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Training Grounds and Arena In the Southern territories, training and battle are taken really... seriously by Mountain Clan. Here is where sparring and battling takes place under the watchful eye of a dragon judge, as well as where older warriors teach younger warriors the old tricks and the cunning of ages. East Border Mountains
Sunrise Ridge A lovely ridge of warm sandstone, the sun coming over it is said to be one of the single most beautiful sites in all Shadow. Sun Clan dragons are often found flying and fighting and hunting and generally living here. It is even rumored that their nesting site is here- though humans have never seen the truth of it. (It is, but don't tell the twoleggers.) Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Gypsy Trail A long and winding trail cuts through the Eastern Mountains, and many use it, but most of all caravans. In some places, the path is red with blood from battles past, in others, gold from trading. The legendary Chaos is found here- said to be an everlasting windstorm. No one knows what use it is, but it provokes fear... and awe. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Valley of Dreams A shimmering and iridescent blue haze surround this place like a dream- and a dream it is, for few ever want to leave it; or survive trying to... Unicorns and centaurs frequent this place, but that speaks little for peacefulness, as either species can be... deadly killers. Flesh-eating Pegasus are also concealed in the idle beauty. The air is charged with magic, and indeed, mages or any species must venture here and return with a hair from a unicorn's tail to complete their training. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Western Border Mountains
The Maze Throughout the depths of the steep and majestic Western Mountains runs a vast and foreboding labrynth of terrifying proportions. Renowned for the hostile population of lindorms who are zealously protective of both their terriotory and the vast amounts of treasure that they have stored up in the center of their stronghold. Even a Mountain Dragon would hesitate to enter here- for many magical lie around just WAITING for an unsuspecting traveler to trip up on one. But if you make it out you could be very rich indeed… Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Foothills and Plains The great mountains of the west are inhospitable, though beautiful. In accordance with this minor detail, Spell Clan lives in the foothills just to the east, a territory which stretches from the mountain chain itself to Sulfur River. In the center, the build their nests out of opals an diamonds, and will fight to the death to defend this place. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Spell Mountain In the very center of the mountain chain rises a huge mountain made of crystal. When the sunset hits it, it looks as though it is forged of the fires of eternity, but it is incredibly dangerous. Rising as high as the Firebreather itself, it spews raw magic across the land. Raw magic is one of the most dangerous and unstable substances in Shadow, capable of bringing down a charging tarasque merely by touching it. No one knows what it will do to you next, but the last person who got hit… melted. Before that, there were some interesting effects with sparkling stuff and animal furs. Who says sudden and horrible death can’t be funny? Most of the time, it merely drives one insane. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Forgotten/Forbidden Marsh
Deep Shadows The deep shadows are the darkest part of the black forests of the marsh- it is always after sunset, or as Night Clan calls it; ‘The Lands of Eternal Shadow’. Few people can see in here, a wander around lost, usually ending up in quicksand or another such thing, and those that can find the paths often get led astray by will-o-wisps. Survive that? Good, now you have to survive the dragons, because in here they can see better than you, move faster than you, and know ever inch like the back of their paws. *Midnight examines paw; “Wow, that’s new-* *Slaps hand over Midnight’s mouth*. Anyway, they have the advantage, and they will use every illusion, every lie, shortcut, and especially any poison spells to confound and trick intruders before they find the nesting sites in the swamps deepest center. Delta The delta of the Sulphur River is wide and complex, forming quicksand and miniature islands, or even large islands and shallow streams. Some trees grown around here, forming the outer forest of the swamp, which is much, much more… well- non-Night-Clan-friendly than the inner portion. Here is the hunting grounds of the shadow dragons, as well as several other creatures- the water supports abundant life such as deer, wyverns, fish and birds, griffins and hippogriffs... Very popular hunting spot for MOST races, in fact. And of course the ‘griffs hunt the hunters… Moderators: Midnight Dragon, Nymephron

The Badlands Barren wasteland, rocky desert, scrubs and sand, however one puts it, one comes out with an inhospitable waste that isn’t even worth defending. But Night Clan does, anyway. Why? No real reason except that it belongs to them, even if they don’t like it. The only creatures that the dark dragons let through are gypsies and those draykes going south to hold funerals in Mountain Clan territory. Wyverns frequent this place as a nesting site, but there is next to no prey or water here. Moderators: Midnight Dragon, Nymephron

Jeweled Forest
Deep Woods Very nearly dark as the inner marsh and as fiercely defended, not just by the elusive Forest Clan, but by a healthy colony of hippogriffs and a village of centaur warriors. The trees are immense and stately, large enough that Jungle dragons can nest in them with ease, and bring their kill there. Deer and moose are some common prey animals here, and a river from the Outside of Shadow flows through. It is not very… appealing looking, however, and only the desperate drink from it. Daylight exists in here, but lasts only a few hours and is more of a green glow…. Moderator: Midnight Dragon

Outer Forest Jungle Clan rarely ventures here as it isn't enough cover for them. All known half-draykes currently live on the border of the forest, and no one is sure how friendly or dangerous they are. Beware... Moderator: Midnight Dragon
